So I think I narrowed it down.

I'm pretty darn sure now that there is a short somewhere in the steering column. It is the only possible thing left. I've checked the starter, battery, non-column wires, alternator, etc. Looks like I get to pull the entire steering column out (for the third time in two years). This couldn't have come at a worse time since the car still needs to get buffed, aligned, decal-ed, have an exhaust fitted, and I just reassembled the entire interior last week. Damn.

I posted in your other thread. Did you check any fusable links in the starter wiring? You might have a thermal failure.

If a fuse was blown the car shouldn't have random intermittent times of full electricity and the starter shouldn't get any power what so ever (even though all I am getting is a click).

hey I have a friend who has a set of brand new full length sub frame connectors for a 2nd gen F body if you're interested in some chassis rigidity. He's cleaning out his basement of F body parts and found these.

Well, the good news is that now you have to worry about scratching the paint! Wait... nevermind.

I've been looking into some of those. Does he have an ad up?

no he found them in his basement literally like last night and I said "hey I know a guy on oppo restoring a trans am who might want those!" He said 125 shipped, they are 155 brand new, Comp engineering, they have never been on a car. For a 76-81 F body.

That's a pretty darn good deal, but I should probably figure out what my long term idea is for my suspension first. Thanks though!

Don't be. At least your audi runs (did you sell it?).

eh, I think these are kind of important for any setup so your car doesn't have the rigidity of a floppy cock but its your build so.

That's a pretty accurate description of my car... I had it up on jack stands today and the body kind of arched over them. So much sagging.

Pretty much I'm just too poor right now.

Especially for T-Top cars. They really help with dash rattles, too.

I did sell it. I'm down to just my '96 Grand Prix coupe, wife's '04 Impala, and her family's '52 Buick. Not that I'm complaining too much. Right now I have my sights on getting a '63 Studebaker Avanti within a year or so.

could be a bad ignition switch itself. I just replaced the one in my 68 after it would have random shut offs but then instantly refire like nothing was wrong.

I have a spare switch lying around from the last steering column I pulled. After I finish my calc homework I'll drop the column and swap them. Hopefully that will help.

yeah took me 6 month and a ruined muffler to figure it out. It would do it while driving. Thought it was the resistor wire, so bypassed it still did finally temped across the switch and that was it. Lickily I have the luxury of having the switch on the dash.
